Murph Unites
As excitement builds for our big fundraising event in August, led by Franky and his team at CrossFit NewWave, the CrossFit community came together over the scorching bank holiday Monday for a taster of what’s to come!
Our good friend Lee Steggles, owner of CrossFit Shapesmiths, hosted a morning of Murph workouts at his gym in support of Franky’s mission, to help raise awareness and invited members of CrossFit NewWave down to join. Always up for a challenge, Franky and his team of athletes assembled in Surrey for a Murph workout (1 miles run, 100 pull ups, 200 pushups ups, 300 air squats, 1 mile run) before setting off on a 30km run to CrossFit Shapesmiths in Clapham to join Lee and his community for a second workout. Unbelievable!
Following the workout, everyone stuck around to enjoy some BBQ food and beers, with perfect weather helping to create a fantastic atmosphere. Seeing members from CrossFit Shapesmiths and CrossFit NewWave training side by side demonstrated the power of people coming together for something bigger than themselves, all in support of our small charity, on a big mission: to raise awareness and vital funds for sarcoma research.
A huge thank you to Shapesmiths, WIT, NewWave CrossFit, Syncro Marketing and everyone who took part, donated and helped spread the word. Jack would have been deeply moved to see these three communities coming together like this. The spirit of the event truly captured everything Jack stood for and hoped to create.
Roll on August and Murph Marathon 2.0.
